The WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO boxing heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk has been given permission by the Ukraine defence forces to train for Anthony Joshua rematch.

The update was confirmed by boxing promoter Bob Arum who revealed that Usky alongside another pugilist Vasyl Lomachenko have both been offered the opportunity to leave the war in Ukraine and train for their potential next fights.

Arum added in a statement that Usyk who is contractually obligated to a rematch with Anthony Joshua, and Lomachenko have been given permission by the Ukraine Ministry of Culture, to leave the front lines and go defend their world titles.

“The Ukrainian government, which is tremendous, are co-operating with us as far as Lomachenko and also Usyk.

“They realise there’s tremendous publicity value in having them come out, train and participate in title fights.

“Hopefully the war will then be over, but if it isn’t, [they will then] go back into defence mode.’’ Arum told Fanatics View.

Recall that the Ukrainian boxer, who ended Anthony Joshua’s reign as a world heavyweight champion with a unanimous win, arrived in Ukraine about two weeks ago, to join his compatriots in battle against Russian.
