American singer Melissa Viviane Jefferson popularly known in music circles as Lizzo has a court in the USA to throw out s3xual assault allegations levelled against her by her former dancers.

The musician made the demand on Friday in her reply to the s3xual assault suit filed against her by her backup dancers, which contained complains of “s3xual, racial, religious harassment, disability discrimination plus weight shaming.”

On Wednesday during a court filing, Lizzo’s lawyers and her tour company refuted the claims from the plaintiffs. Lizzo was sued by three of her old dance crew members referred to as the Big Grrrls Dancers: Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez.

In one of the cases, one Lizzo’s clothing designer, who designed custom pieces for Lizzo’s dancers last year Asha Daniels, accused her and people who worked on Lizzo’s “The Special Tour” of s3xual, racial harassment, disability discrimination, and creating a hostile work environment.

Lizzo’s lawyers however requested that the judge dismiss the lawsuit. The filing states that the court “deny generally and specifically each and every allegation contained in the complaint”.

They also denied the fact that the dancers “have sustained any injury or loss by reason of any act or omission on the part of Defendants.”

Lizzo’s spokesperson Stefan Friedman stated that: “This is the first step of a legal process in which Lizzo and her team will demonstrate that they have always practiced what they’ve preached, whether it comes to promoting body positivity, leading a safe and supportive workplace or protecting individuals from any kind of harassment.

“Any and all claims to the contrary are ridiculous, and we look forward to proving so in a court of law.”

An attorney for Neama Rahmani, one of the dancers, replied to Lizzo’s lawsuit on Thursday, saying that it: “merely consists of boilerplate objections that have nothing to do with the case.”

He went on to say: “That said, the key takeaway is that Lizzo is agreeing to our clients’ demand for a jury trial,” Rahmani said. “We look forward to presenting our case in court and letting a panel of her peers decide who is telling the truth.”
