Popular Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, scion of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti has been released from the detention of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Lagos.
The troubled musician was released on Tuesday night after perfecting his bail conditions following his detaintion by the police for allegedly assaulting a police officer some days ago on Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos.

The release of the Afrobeat musician was confirmed by his attorney, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, SAN, in a telephone interview with Punch on Tuesday night.
“Yes, Ṣeun Kuti was released minutes ago,” he said.

Seun Kuti was arrested after the musician was caught on camera slapping and pushing a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge while his wife tried to calm him down from inflicting any harm on the officer.
The musician in a post he shared after the video went viral, claimed the officer wanted to kill him and his family members and also added that the police officer has apologised and that he will not be pressing charges.
Following his assault on the police officer, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Afrobeat singer.
