Seun Kuti reacts to IGP’s call for his arrest after pushing, slapping police officer

Seun Kuti, scion of late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti has reacted to the call for his arrest by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) after he pushed and slapped a police officer. 

Recall that the musician was caught on camera slapping and pushing a police officer on third mainland bridge while his wife tried to calm him down from inflicting any harm on the officer.

Seun in a post he shared after the video went viral, claimed the officer wanted to kill him and his family members and also added that the police officer has apologised and that he will not be pressing charges.

Following his assault on the police officer, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Afrobeat singer.

A statement released by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, says the IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.

’’The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, who was captured on video assaulting a police officer in uniform.

’’The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.

’’IGP Usman Alkali Baba assures Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book.’’ the statement concluded.

Seun has now reacted to the IGP’s call for his arrest in a post on his Instagram page where he noted that he welcomed the investigation and also added that he will do his best to cooperate.
