Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has departed the shores of Nigeria for Switzerland to kickstart his European Summer tour days after he was released from detention for assaulting a police officer.

The energetic singer who was involved in a face-off with the Nigerian police left Lagos for Switzerland on Wednesday night for a summer tour where his fans were already awaiting his arrival for a show.

A source told journalists yesterday night that Kuti that who has been unable to attend his concert in Majorca Island, Spain, due to his detention by the police, left for “Switzerland on Air France with his band members at 11 pm Nigerian time.

‘‘Kuti has flown out to Switzerland tonight to commence his summer tour in Europe. He’s already missed a lot of shows. His fans in Zurich are eagerly awaiting him tomorrow night,” the source said.

Afrobeat musician was granted bail on Tuesday night on completion of his bail conditions following his arrest by the State Criminal, Investigations and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Yaba, Lagos, on the orders of a Yaba Chief Magistrate Court.
