American prosecutors are making moves to seize the sum of $28k from the prison account of troubled singer Robert Kelly popularly known in music circles as R Kelly.
Reports say R Kelly has the sum of $28,328.24 in his account as of August 3 and the Bureau of Prisons has restrained his funds at the government’s request and left the singer with $500.
According to Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn, NY, the decision was made because the singer hasn’t paid any of the criminal penalties imposed since being sentenced to 30 years in prison for s3x trafficking.

They are asking the judge to put the money into an interest-bearing account “pending a determination as to the amount and applicability of a restitution judgment.”
This came weeks after the R&B singer was removed from suicide watch following a lawsuit against prison authorities
Recall that R Kelly who had been convicted for s3x crimes filed a lawsuit claiming he was being subjected to “cruel and unusual punishment” which violates his 8th Amendment rights after he was put on suicide watch at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
