Rapper French Montana gifts Nigerian community 500 canoes

American rapper Karim Kharbouch better known by his stage name French Montana has donated no fewer than 500 canoes to the community of Makoko Lagos, Nigeria.

Montana rendered the gesture after shooting his latest music video titled ‘Wish You Well’ with Swae at Makoko. The music video was released on Friday, August 31st.

During a press release on September 7th, Thursday he made mention of his decision to employ local craftsmen for the canoes which would help improve and support the local economy and at the same time improve the livelihood of members of the community.

This is not the first time the Morocco- American rapper is generously giving as sometime in 2017 when he and Swae shot a music video for the song ‘Unforgettable’ somewhere in Africa, they worked hand in hand with a local community to establish a Suubi Health Center.

Due to the philanthropic contribution he made to that local community, it paved the way to maternal health care for thousands of mothers, women and children across 55 remote villages accomplished in partnership with Global Citizen and Mama Hope.

The 38 year old rapper in a YouTube trailer shared his story, explaining his journey from being born in Morocco to moving to U S and the difficulties he went through.

His said: ‘‘When I was 13, my family immigrated to the United States in search of a better life,” the platinum-selling artist said. “Like millions of others that dreamt of opportunities, freedom and a chance to make our mark. But I remember being 17 and finding out I was undocumented. My family now had to learn to navigate the immigration system on our own.

‘‘And this happened when I had the dream of going to college and playing ball. I didn’t have a social security number. I didn’t qualify to get a scholarship. Jump forward to now, and I know that I’m lucky for how my story turned out. I made it. Alhamdulillah.” French Montana added.
