American music mogul Sean Puffy Combs popularly known in music circles as Puffy Daddy has stated that he was joking when he claimed that he pays the sum of $5,000 a day, to musician Sting for using a sample from his hit song ‘Every Breath You Take’ without his permission.
Recall days ago that Puff Daddy claimed in a post on Twitter on Wednesday April 5, that he pays $5,000, a day in royalties for sampling the rocker’s, 71, iconic 1983 single, Every Breath You Take, on his 1997 single, I’ll Be Missing You.
He also retweeted a clip from Sting’s 2018 interview with The Breakfast Club, where the musician was asked if it’s true that he receives $2,000 a day from Diddy for the sample, to back up his claim.

However, Puff Daddy tried to set the record straight in a post on his Instagram page;
‘I want y’all to understand I was joking!’ the Bad Boy For Life artist wrote. ‘It’s called being facetious! Me and @OfficialSting have been friends for a long time! He never charged me $3K or $5K a day for Missing You. He probably makes more than $5K a day from one of the biggest songs in history,’‘ the repentant rapper wrote.
