The 19th edition of the annual Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) is fast approaching and the organizers have revealed detailed plans for the event.
Tony Anih, the operational head of the awards ceremony in a statement said that efforts are in full swing to present a great awards celebration in Lagos, Nigeria.
He also revealed that the 2023 edition will take place on November 28, 2023, at a site established in the Ikeja region of Lagos, after the release of the nomination list.

According to Dr. Shaibu Husseini, a prominent cinema critic and academic, the screening of films prior to nomination has completed, and successful entries have been given to the award’s Board of International Jury, who will reveal the films that will make it into the award’s 26 categories.
He said; “We have commenced the process for this year’s AMAA award after the tragedy of the demise of the founder. AMAA is a legacy of Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, we will preserve and continue to nurture it in her honour.
‘‘The Screening College has started work. We have concluded screening and films selected from the three stages of selection have qualified for nomination as decided by the Board of AMAA International Jury”.
