Nollywood movie ‘Eyimofe’ bags award at BlackStar Film Festival

Nollywood movie ‘Eyimofe’ (This Is My Desire) a film which follows the stories of Mofe, a factory technician and Rosa, a hairdresser and their quest for a better life as immigrants has bagged an award at the recently staged BlackStar Film Festival.

 The film which was recently acquired by Janus films for theatrical and VOD release in the United States recently won the Best Feature Narrative category of this year’s BlackStar Film Festival, an international festival to celebrate Black, Brown and Indigenous film and video artists.

‘Eyimofe’ joined over 80 films to screen at this year’s edition of the festival. Confirming the film’s win, the juror said: “Eyimofe is a beautifully shot, vibrant film whose cinematography believes fully in its environment, and carries an acting style that captures a complete snapshot of life in a place.”

The movie, Eyimofe (This is My Desire) is set to premiere in Benelux nations; Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg with the theatrical release set for the Spring of 2022.

This came after a Belgian distribution company, MOOOV acquired the distribution rights for the movie reported to be the acclaimed directorial debut of siblings Arie Esiri and Chuko Esiri.
