Popular American rapper Kodak Black has demanded the release of his seized car and cash back from cops’ after arrest by policemen on drug possession charges.

The rapper is reportedly asking the court to make Florida Highway Patrol officers return a purple Dodge Durango – which US media said he was driving at the time – and the wad of cash taken from his possession during the arrest.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Black’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, says his client can prove that the car and cash were not involved in any illegal activity and do, in fact, belong to the rapper.

According to a statement from the police in July, Kodak Black was initially pulled over for allegedly having window tinting which appeared to be darker than the legal limit.

Officers then found what they described as 31 oxycodone pills and $74,960 (£63,230) in cash during a search. Oxycodone is a prescription opioid which treats pain that can become highly addictive.

Black was later arrested on trafficking oxycodone of less than 25 grams, as well as possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
