Popular American rapper Kanye West who was due to take to the stage at next months’ ceremony has been banned from Grammy Awards performance ‘due to online behaviour’.

The Blast first reported that the Grammys had axed Kanye West over “concerning online behaviour”, which US outlets Variety and People later confirmed with his rep.

Variety confirmed the news on Saturday, witting: “ Kanye West has been barred from performing at the Grammy Awards due to his ‘concerning online behavior’.”

Their report states a representative of the music star: “received a phone call Friday night informing him he had been ‘unfortunately’ removed from the lineup of performers for the show.”

Their report added: “Our sources say Kanye’s team isn’t surprised by the decision.”

Kanye’s 2021 album, titled Donda, is up for five awards including Best Album and will still compete for the gongs despite the musician’s apparent ban from performing on stage.
