Nigerian Journalist, Joey Akan has called out organizers of the Headies Award for disqualifying singer Portable amid police investigation.

The Inspector General of police had ordered an investigation into a recent statement by Portable claiming he is the founder of ‘One million boys’ cult group.

Amid the investigation, organisers of the award issued a statement disqualifying Portable’s nomination in solidarity with the Nigerian police force.

Reacting to this, Joey in a post questioned the reason behind the arbitrary disqualification since it is not part of the nomination criteria.

He also called for an objective judgement of all other nominees who may not be of moral standard to receive the award.

“Look across your nomination list, are those people up there all saints and angels? Swing it across board. Enforce and encode this as a rule not some arbitrary decision to score points with partners.” He wrote.
