Hollywood actor Johnny Depp’s legal team has responded to Amber Heard’s recent interview where she maintained she was abused by her ex husband, Johnny Depp as well as handed over some therapy notes to prove her claims.
Depp”s lawyers accused Heard and her team of ‘repeating, re-imagining and re-litigating’ aspects of the trial that have already been decided in court.
The ‘Aquaman’ actress spoke about the verdict in depth for the first time with NBC News’ Savannah Guthrie this week. Segments of the interview have been released by the network’s Today show, with the full interview dropping on Dateline today, June 17.
In one of the clips, Amber Heard admitted to doing ‘horrible regrettable things’ in her relationship with Depp but that she ‘always told the truth’.

Another instalment saw Guthrie question her over whether she felt she could be sued for defamation again, to which she replied: “I am scared that, no matter what I do, no matter what I say or how I say it, every step that I take will present another opportunity for silencing, which I guess is what a defamation lawsuit is meant to do – it is meant to take your voice.”
Johnny Depp’s legal team has since responded to the interview, with a spokesperson for the Pirates of the Caribbean star saying: “It’s unfortunate that while Johnny is looking to move forward with his life, the defendant and her team are back to repeating, re-imagining and re-litigating matters that have already been decided by the court and a verdict that was unequivocally decided by a jury in Johnny’s favour.”
The news arrives after Depp sued Heard for $50 million in damages over domestic abuse claims she made in a 2018 article for The Washington Post, and she issued a counterclaim for $100 million.
Following a highly-publicised legal battle, the jury ruled in favour of Depp and awarded him $15 million, which was later capped at $10.35 million by Judge Penney Azcarate.
In a separate verdict Heard was awarded $2 million in damages via the counterclaim.
Earlier this week, Heard claimed the trial was unbalanced, stating: “Even if you think that I’m lying, you still couldn’t look me in the eye and tell me that you think on social media there’s been a fair representation. You cannot tell me that you think that this has been fair.”
However, a juror from the trial anonymously spoke out to deny Amber Heard’s claims, insisting the jury based their decision on the evidence and nothing more.
