The United States Attorney’s Office at the Central District of California has revealed that the sentencing of self-confessed internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas aka Hushpuppi, has been slated for October this year.

The update came days after Hushpuppi who was arrested in Dubai in July 2020 for a multi-millionaire dollar fraud perpetrated by him and members of his syndicate pleaded guilty to various offences bordering on internet scam, money laundering, among others.

His plea bargain document which was released online this week was signed by Hushpuppi, his lawyer, Loius Shapiro; and Acting United States Attorney, Tracy Wilkison, among others.

Huspuppi pleaded guilty before a US court to two counts of conspiracy to engage in money laundering according to a document revealed by his lawyer.

Journalist Evan Ratiff, who also shared copies of the agreement, revealed that Hushpuppi now faces up to 20 years in prison at sentencing.

The agreement he entered is limited to the United States Attorney’s Office and not binding to other federal, state, local or foreign prosecuting authorities.

Henceforth, Hushpuppi who will pay close to $1.7m as restitution (but this can change based on facts that come up prior to sentencing) will not contest facts entered in the agreement and abide by all agreements regarding sentencing.
