IGP ordered to deepen investigation into connection between Abba Kyari and Hushpuppi

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has been ordered to deepen investigations into the connection between Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari and alleged internet fraudster, Abbas Ramon, popularly known as Hushpuppi.

The order to deepen the investigation between the suspended head of the Intelligence Response Team and Hushpuppi was issued on Wednesday by the Police Service Commission (PSC).

The Inspector General of Police was given two weeks by the PSC to turn in the report of the investigation which would be reviewed by the PSC Standing Committee on Discipline.

Recall that Abba Kyari was suspended as the Head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) on July 31, following his indictment by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in relation to the Hushpuppi fraud case.

Kyari was suspended for alleged involvement in a $1.1 million Internet fraud allegedly perpetrated by Hushpuppi and four others; AbdulRahman Juma (Abdul); Vincent Chibuzo (Kelly); Rukayat Fashola (Morayo); and Bolatito Agbabiaka (Bolamide).
