Organisers of Grammy Awards have updated their earlier definition of Afrobeats songs after Nigerians dragged them on the microblogging platform, Twitter.
An earlier post on their Twitter handle read that Afrobeats is a blend of West African and Black American music that has quickly become a global pop phenomenon.
However, following a series of comments from Nigerians who opposed their definition maintaining it is strictly of West African origin, an updated post was made barely 3 hours later.

In the latest post, they deleted the part that says it is also a black American music stating that the update was made to reflect the specifically African origin of the genre.
“Afrobeats is a mesmeric blend of West African music that has quickly become a global pop phenomenon.” The latest post read.
