Gospel singer Funmi Ogunfowora releases new single ‘Ife Jesu’

Barring any further delay, sensational gospel artiste and vocalist, Funmi Ogunfowora releases the much-anticipated debut single, “Ife Jesu” (Jesus’ Love) which has been trending on the social media space for two weeks to the delight of music lovers.

This inspirational song is scheduled for release on the 18th July 2023 to online users, online music stores and distributors for download and streaming with the aim of reaching every nation for Christ and expressing the unconditional, unwavering and enormous love of Jesus to humanity.

The graduate of Art and design from Yaba College of Technology who is passionate about drawing the hearts of worshipers to their maker through intentional worship, says her inspiration comes from the word of God.

“I draw my inspiration from God’s word. Each time I study, or listen to great Men of God either in words or inform me of music, I get to sit back and ask myself questions, ingest or digest them. My inspiration is also based on God’s goodness to mankind. how we sing about it, yet it’s still fresh. It amazes me how High God is and how low we are but still He chooses us over every single thing he created.”

More so, nature gets me wondering what God was thinking when He made them too, babies growing up, animals taking care of their young. All these inspire me but “Ife Jesu” is divinely given after a long time of waiting. I could recall that the great push came from my wonderful friend and sister who called me up, or more like a challenge. She gave a timeline that I should have my face, art and music everywhere. Reluctantly, I told her I was waiting for God’s inspiration. She said and I quote ” God has given it, use it now”. Thank God for the Easter period, the song came riding in just like that, in fact, I was at work when I received it. Just like saying when the Holy ghost descended powerfully.”

The power in Funmi’s voice and the captivating atmosphere in an encounter with the Holy Spirit during her ministrations leave worshippers connecting God with signs and wonders following.

She may not have been born with a silver spoon but God was faithful to give her a golden voice which has become an evangelical tool to change her world for good. “Growing up was like fantasy, back then I would always watch Colby 2, Music Express, Sound of Music, musical cartoons and the likes. Believe it or not, they shaped me, because I had always wanted to sound like them.

So, these television programs increased my love for music. While some neighbours would always complain about how I am disturbing them with my songs because my voice was very loud and I wanted to be heard, others would encourage me. I still do that though, singing with the echo in the house, but I tell you, this time, it’s beautiful because it has God involved.”

Music to Funmi is a ministry and she is sold-out to it, yet on the other hand, she falls in love with her brushes and practices her academically trained skills as a fine artist with area of focus on portrait, landscape and abstract paintings with pencil and thread. “Music is in my blood, my grandmother used to be a great soprano singer and a Violinist, my mother sings, my dad do sing jokingly and some of my siblings are fully into music. Music is life, music has healings, music has encouragements no one can explain, it takes you where no man on earth can take you. Music is my way of life, I sing with anything, no matter how terrible.

Well, my creative abilities had always been there and I felt I could sharpen it up by studying Art but my love for music never faded either. If only I had more support, I would have gone for more studies on music as well… But I tell you, I don’t regret studying Art, thank God art and music go hand in hand”.
