DEFAMATION: After four days in custody, court grants aphrodisiac seller Jaruma bail

Popular aphrodisiac seller Hauwa Saidu better known as Jaruma has been granted bail bail by an Upper area Court in Zuba, Abuja, after she was charged to court by billionaire businessman Ned Nwoko.

Jaruma who is presently standing trial on a four-count charge of ”defamation of character, criminal intimidation, injurious falsehood, and publishing falsehood to incite the public to hate against Prince Ned Nwoko was granted bail on Friday by the presiding judge Barrister Ismail Abdullahi Jibril.

The presiding judge ruled that the charges against Jaruma were bailable and ordered that the aphrodisiac seller must present one surety on grade level 12 working in FCT, Abuja, to perfect her bail conditions.

The decision to grant Jaruma (who had spent four days in custody) bail was reached after her lawyer applied for bail which the judge granted on Friday, 28, January, 2022.

The development came a day after Nigerian activist, Omoyele Sowore slammed Ned Nwoko over the arrest of Jaruma.

He stated that the billionaire businessman has done so much damage to lots of innocent citizens in his community with the aid of the Nigerian police.

Sowore on his Instagram page also stressed that defamation is a civil matter and therefore demanded justice and freedom for Jaruma.
