The Festival Director of the forthcoming Africa Rising International Film Festival (ARIFF), Ayanda Sithebe has informed that the event offers African storytellers a united front to play in the global market.

Sithebe who revealed this during an interview with Naija Blog Gist (NBG) said that the Film Festival will also afford African moviemakers the opportunity of collaboration and skills transfer.

According to him, filmmakers will have an opportunity to showcase their works to a global audience during the Festival but most importantly African storytellers will have the opportunity of collaboration and skills transfer as a united front to play in the global market.

“The festival prides itself in being the best in Africa, as such the marketing started right after last year’s edition with a two-article feature in one of the world’s most revered platforms Variety. In both the articles, the film’s 2021’s intentions were revealed together with dates for this year’s edition. We followed with an amazing film showcase – The Ghost and the House of Truth, early this year celebrating one of the best and most revered directors in Africa, Akin Omotoso,” the Festival Director said.

When asked what kind of technology the festival organisers will be deploying to enhance participation this year, Sithebe said; “Protecting IP and films is our priority, so our service providers are experienced and world-class. Our goal is always to showcase the films to the world, but we respect filmmakers’ wishes, and geo-blocking is implemented per filmmakers’ request.

He also revealed that there would be provision of transparent audience data during the festival to enhance transparency.

Sithebe said; “Correct, displaying the data for our audiences is very key to all our stakeholders, because this informs our industry with what is working for audiences.
