ALLEGED ASSAULT: Court orders detention of rapper Ice Prince

The detention of Nigerian rapper Panshak Zamani popularly known in music circles as Ice Prince over allegedly assaulting a police officer has been ordered by a magistrate court.

The former Chocolate City rapper is now cooling his heels in detention at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre following an order by a magistrate court sitting in the Ajah area of Lagos.

However, Magistrate Taiwo Oyaniyi granted Ice Prince bail in the sum of N500,000 and he is also to provide the court with two responsible sureties but ordered his detention until he perfects his bail conditions.

Ice Prince who was arraigned on a three-count charge of assault, obstructing a policeman from carrying out his statutory duties and abduction denied the allegations during court proceedings.

The case will come up again for further hearing on September 7 after Magistrate Oyaniyi gave the order.

The arrest of Ice Prince was made known in a post on Twitter by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command.

Benjamin Hundeyin also informed in his Twitter post that Ice Prince assaulted the police officer and threatened to throw him in the river.
