Jamie Spears, the father of American singer Britney Spears has been officially removed as the conservator of his daughter’s $60 million estate after no fewer than 13 years in charge.

A judge in Los Angeles on Wednesday said during the latest court hearing in the long-running dispute, that it was in Spears’ “best interests” to remove her father from the legal agreement, adding that the “current situation is untenable” and “reflects a toxic environment”.

A hearing on whether to terminate the conservatorship entirely has also been set for later in the year.

In a related development, a new conservator of Britney’s estate has been appointed on a temporary basis. His name is John Zabel, a CPA handpicked by Rosengart.

This came weeks after Britney Spears accused her father Jamie Spears of trying to extort her by asking for a huge payoff before he finally quit his role as her conservator.

The development was made known in new legal documents, obtained by TMZ, which revealed that Britney pointed out that her father has already admitted it’s in her best interests for him to step down as her conservator.
