Spanish prosecutors seek 9-year jail term for ex-Brazil star Dani Alves

Spanish prosecutors are currently seeking a nine-year prison term for ex- Brazil and Barcelona FC defender, Dani Alves, who is standing trial for alleged s3x assault.

The prosecutor has also asked for Alves to receive a restraining order following the jail term and for him to pay damages worth 150,000 euros (£130,500) to the woman.

The footballer who has been in prison since being arrested in January is due to stand trial in Spain over the alleged assault which took place in December 2022 in Barcelona.

Dani Alves who was detained in January after being accused of raping a young woman in the bathroom of a nightclub in late December has spent the last six months in custody.

The 40-year-old Brazilian has been held in custody because the court investigating him declared the football player a flight risk thus denying him bail.

While reacting to the allegations leveled against his person, Alves said previously: ‘It will be proven that I am not guilty and it was a consensual relationship.

‘It would never cross my mind to impose a sexual act on anyone.” The footballer added.
