French rapper MHD sentenced to 12-years in prison over 2018 murder case

Popular 29-year-old rapper French rapper Mohamed Sylla popularly known as MHD from Paris has been arrested and sentenced to 12-years in jail over a 2018 murder case.

The rapper who got himself involved in a gang related murder of a 23-year-old victim identified as Loci K five years ago, was found guilty of the crime by a court in Paris.

The court in Paris got to know that the victim was knocked down by Sylla’s Mercedes, before he was thereafter beaten up and stabbed by 12 gang members.

The 29-year-old rapper pleaded “not guilty” to the crime alongside five others who were sentenced to prison and three other suspects who were declared innocent.

The rapper told the French court that, “From the beginning, I have maintained my innocence in this case and I will continue to maintain my innocence.”

He said he wasn’t present at the scene of the crime, and that the case leveled against him was a fallacy.

One of the many pieces of evidence was footage filmed by one of the local residents through the window of his home, as Sylla was recognized by others who witnessed the crime.

According to the Agency France-Presse: ‘‘Other witnesses said he was singled out for his haircut, his sweatshirt made by Puma, as he was their brand ambassador. The car was abandoned and burned in a car park 24 hours after the murder scene.
