Nigerian musician turned politician Bankole Wellington popularly known as Banky W has welcomed the decision of the Election Petition Tribunal to order a supplementary election for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in Lagos State.
Recall that the tribunal on Monday invalidated the victory of the Labour Party’s candidate, Thaddeus Atta as the rightly elected representative for Eti-Osa Federal Constituency.
The court declared that the election was inconclusive, and ordered that the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC,) should conduct a supplementary election in 33 polling units where elections did not hold within 90 days.
In his reaction to the court ruling during an interview on Channels TV Politics Today on Wednesday, Banky W welcomed the judgement of the tribunal and described it as a miracle.

“For me personally, it’s a miracle in and of j itself that we get another chance to finish the election.
“I think it’s a testament to the power of perseverance, the power of faith, and the collective will of the people who want to participate in the rebuilding of this democracy,” he said.
Banky W further said, “People were really frustrated that they didn’t get a chance to participate in that election. And I think that that’s important.
“It’s an important thing for our democracy that people are not prevented from exercising their constitutional rights to participate in an election,’’ he added.
