ASSAULT: Seun Kuti to be arraigned on September 27 for manhandling police office

Popular Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti will be arraigned in court on the 27th of September, 2023, over an alleged assault on a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge months ago.

Seun Kuti will appear before a Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State on the said date after his arraignment was stalled on Monday due to the absence of the presiding Chief Magistrate, identified as Adeola Olatunbosun.

Recall that he was arrested after the was caught on camera slapping and pushing a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge while his wife tried to calm him down from inflicting any harm on the officer.

The musician in a post he shared after the video went viral, claimed the officer wanted to kill him and his family members and also added that the police officer has apologised and that he will not be pressing charges.

Following his assault on the police officer, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Afrobeat singer.
