Troubled American R&B singer Robert Kelly popularly known in music circles as R Kelly has been ordered to pay his s3x abuse victims over $300,000 in restitution.
The order was issued on Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Ann Connelly who ruled that R Kelly should pay the said sum to one of his victims in a decades-long scheme to use his fame to s3xually abuse naïve young fans.
A restitution order by the federal judge that was still being finalized is meant to cover the cost of treatment for herpes and psychotherapy. The victim, referred to only by a pseudonym, Jane, has accused the jailed R Kelly of giving her the s3xually transmitted disease during one of their encounters.
The popular R&B singer, whose lawyer claims he only has 28,000 dollars in his account, could also pay tens of thousands of dollars more for herpes treatment and counseling for a second victim once the final tally is calculated.
R Kelly has been convicted of six of the 13 charges brought against him in his s3x trafficking trial.
