Academy Governor Whoopi Goldberg has said the academy is not going to take back the award given to Will Smith Following his onstage altercation with comedian Chris Rock.

At the 94th Academy Awards, Smith took to the stage not only to accept his award for Best Actor, but to slap Rock for making a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Goldberg stated this on Monday on ‘The View’ where she said ” I think it was a lot of stuff probably built up.

“I think he overreacted… I think he had one of those moments where it was like [God damn] it, just stop. I get it, not everybody acts the way we would like them to act under pressure. And he snapped.

“Sometimes you get to a point when you behave badly. I myself have behaved badly on occasion.”

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that Rock has not filed a police report.

It stated: “LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program. The incident involved one individual slapping another. The individual involved has declined to file a police report.”
