Nollywood filmmaker Rita Onwurah has reacted to the recent scathing remarks by Ghanaian singer Shatta Wale which was targeted at Nigerian musicians.

Recall that in a post on his Instagram page, Shatta Wale stated that there were doubts in some quarters that he would not be able to attract enough fans to fill his concert set for Ghana’s biggest stadium.

According to him, he was told that he would not be able to fill the stadium for his concert if he did not include Nigerian artistes in his lineup of performers.

However, that didn’t turn out to be the case as the stadium was filled and Shatta Wale later said that he does not need Nigerian artistes to sell out his concert.

He said: “I just want to speak my mind.

“They told me I wouldn’t sell out the stadium but see it now.

“I don’t need any Nigerian artistes to sell out my concerts. F** k Nigerian artistes,” Shatta Wale added.

In her reply to the Ghanaian singer, Rita Onwurah said that if tables were turned Ghanaians would accuse Nigerian artists of wanting to colonize their industry.

According to her, one can’t sell their DVDs in Ghana directly as a Nigerian distributor/marketer, and the only way one can is that you’ll have to get a Ghanaian distributor.
