American actor and TV personality Nick Cannon has announced that his five-month-old son, Zen Cannon, has died of a brain tumor.

The TV star made this announcement on his show, “Nick Cannon” and dedicated the Tuesday show to his son.

“Over the weekend I lost my youngest son to a condition called hydrocephalus that was pretty much a malignant, invasive midline brain tumor, brain cancer,” he said “It’s tough.”

“He had this really interesting breathing, and by the time he was 2 months old I noticed … he had this nice-sized head, too. I called it a Cannon head,” he revealed. “We didn’t think anything about it. But I wanted to take him to the doctor for his sinus and breathing. We thought it would be routine.”

According to Cannon, there was fluid building up on Zen’s brain and a malignant tumour that required surgery. Despite the several surgeries, Zen’s condition worsened around Thanksgiving.

The Wild ‘N Out star broke down in tears as he described how he spent the final moments with his son.

“I was preparing my day as it normally goes. I didn’t know what it was going to be. But even by the time I got in the car headed for the airport, I had to turn around to be with Zen.”

“I turned around and not only did we get to see the sunrise, but we got to see the sunset, too,” he said.

Cannon also revealed that he will be taking time off to grieve with his family.

Zen was born to Nick Cannon and model Alyssa Scott in June. He has six other children from other relationships.
