RAPE ALLEGATIONS: Man City defender denied bail for the third time, to remain in police custody until 2022

Troubled Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has been denied bail for the third time ahead of his trial in three months time after the player was accused of s3xual assault.

The 27-year-old who is being remanded at the HMP Altcourse was denied bail by Judge Patrick Thompson at a 50-minute hearing at Chester Crown Court, from which the media was excluded.

The player has been in custody for the past seven weeks after he was charged in August 2021 and he is yet to plead guilty on the charge of four counts of rape and one s3xual assault.

The French player was charged on August 26 with three counts of rape relating to an alleged incident in October 2020 and with the sexual assault of a woman in early January this year.

Benjamin Mendy who was suspended by his clubside Manchester City after being charged by police, pending a club investigation is also charged with raping a woman in August.
