The death of veteran Nollywood actor Larry Williams has been announced to the dismay of scores of moviemakers, critics, buffs and other professionals in the film industry.

The demise of the 81-year-old thespian who kicked the bucket following a long illness was disclosed in a statement made available to the media by the family of the deceased.

“He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Burial arrangements will be announced soon,” the statement read in part.

According to reports, the actor gave up the ghost on Sunday after a protracted illness in Ikom, Cross River State.

  • He is the first president of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria.
  • He starred in different soap operas such as Village Headmaster, Ripples, and Mirror in The Sun.

  • He later proceeded to study English at Morley College and then drama at the Mountview Theatre School and Stratford E15 Acting School, England to become a professional actor.
  • He is an actor, poet, lecturer and playwright.
  • While in the UK, he set up a group named Calabash Artists.

  • He had Olu Jacobs, Taiwo Ajayi-Lycett, Dele Jegede amongst others on his play- Colanut Junction.
